Dr. Julia Gray grew up in Western Massachusetts, living, breathing and dreaming horses. Her initial background was hunter/jumper but she now enjoys eventing and fox hunting. Before vet school she studied mathematics, lived in Thailand and worked with elephants, and completed several scientific research projects. She graduated from Cornell’s vet school in 2011. Her interest in horses carried on, but she also developed a love for dairy cows and production medicine. She completed Cornell’s Summer Dairy Institute and Food Animal Medicine Externship. After graduation she completed a year long equine internship at Genesee Valley Equine Clinic near Rochester, New York.
Julia returned to Ithaca and began working for Starland Veterinary Services in June of 2012. She enjoys the balance between dairy and equine medicine and loves being back in the Ithaca area. She lives with her husband, a high school math teacher, and their many animals. She enjoys camping, hiking, cross country skiing, riding horses, fostering dogs, cooking, quilting, knitting, and spending time with friends.
